You can take the girl out of Texas...

But you can't take the Texas out of the girl. Hey y'all! I know I haven't posted in a while I am still trying to get settled in to our new place but my husband always makes time for some football. We, of course, support our Dallas Cowboys no matter what! I decided to have a little fun this past Sunday and do a Cowboys inspired look. I wanted to show how you can make blue eyeshadow work without looking like MiMi on the Drew Carey Show! So here it is!

How to:

  1. Moisturize skin with mark. Get A Tint Tinted Moisturizer Lotion SPF 15. Then, using a makeup sponge apply Got the Goods Multi-Benefit Foundation Lotion SPF 15 to entire face. Apply Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer under eyes & around nose. Set the foundation with Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation.
  2. Prep eyelids with mark. Primed for Perfection, make sure to apply to entire lid & along lower lashes. Apply the Moonshine I-mark eyeshadow to inner half of lid. Then, apply Electra I-mark eyeshadow to the outer half of your eyelid overlapping the silver a little. Lastly, apply Nightly I-mark eyeshadow to outer corner of lid and into the crease. Then take a blending brush and blend all shades together so there are no harsh lines. Highlight inner corners of eyes and under brow with Ice Age I-mark. Take No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set and line your top eyelid and extend line slightly beyond corner of eye. Apply the same Eyeliner on the outer corner of lower lashes. Then with a dry brush smudge your line and highlight under line with Nightly. Apply 2 coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Blackest Black on upper lashes.
  3. Contour face with Glowdacious Illuminating Powder in Shimmied Up, applying it to hollows of cheeks & along hairline. Apply Just Blushing Powder Blush in Dollhouse to apples of cheeks. Highlight with Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All Over Face Palette on cheekbones & down nose.
  4. Apply mark. Bare Hug lipclick to lips with a little of In a Whirl Marbelized Lip Gloss in Pink Souffle to finish off your look.
But remember if you wind up looking like this.....

You have done something wrong!

Why so serious?

So I last minute decided to dress up for Halloween and by last minute I mean at about 5:00 yesterday. So I went to my closet and noticed a lot of green and purple and decided to go with the Joker. I had a green makeup look I've been wanting to try so it was perfect.

I wore the mark. Very Vintage dress under my American Eagle kelly green sweater. Also with the vintage mark lace scarf and the purple tights from the mark. Do the Tight Thing set. Here was my inspiration for the make up...

And here was my interpretation of it...

This was before I fixed the"scar"

And this was after..

Of course I exaggerated it more than the photo bc it was Halloween. But let me know what you think and what you were for Halloween!

Leave it to Beaver!

I had a doctors appointment today to meet my new doctor. My husband picked out my outfit and I think he did a pretty good job! Of course I accessorized it.

My dogs wanted to be in the picture lol. I bought this dress at Old Navy early this summer. I paired it with the mark. It's a cinch belts ($18 for a set of 3) and a few vintage mark. items. The Michelle Vale bag, Borrowed From The Boys watch and the Line Up necklace will hopefully show up in the "Sale" album soon.

I can't tell if this dress makes me feel like June Cleaver or Michelle Obama. But I love the colors and how lady-like I feel in it. And I tried to transfer that color into my makeup...

How to!

Apply the Goldi Luxe and Stellar(vintage) I-mark eyeshadow to inner half of lid. Then, apply Luster I-mark eyeshadow to the outer half of your eyelid overlapping the gold a little. Lastly, apply Java I-mark eyeshadow to outer corner of lid and into the crease. Then take a blending brush and blend all shades together so there are no harsh lines. Highlight inner corners of eyes and under brow with Biscotti I-mark. Take No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set and line your top eyelid and extend line slightly beyond corner of eye. Apply the same Eyeliner on the outer corner of lower lashes. Then with a dry brush smudge your line and highlight under line with Luster. Apply 2 coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Brown Black on upper lashes.
  4. Apply mark. Bare Hug lipclick to lips with a little of Gloss on in Sand to finish off your look.

Green eyed lady!

Yesterday we went to visit some friends from our old base. I wanted to look good without being too dressed up. I found the perfect dress in my closet. Dressy but not too dressy.

This is the mark. Major Chic dress ($32) it's is the most comfortable dress I own. The color and sleeve makes it ready for fall. Here's mark's description of it: With its casual tabbed sleeves, playful neckline ties and figure-flattering drawstring waist, it's the epitome of laid-back polish. 95% viscose/5% spandex.

Even though I got called "G.I. Jane" several times from my husbands military friends. I felt put together and not like I tried too hard. If you want a grab and go dress this one is for you! Now onto my makeup for the day. I played up my green eyes by using greens and I love how it turned out.

Here's the how to..

Apply the Goldi Luxe I-mark eyeshadow to inner half of lid. Then, apply Empress I-mark eyeshadow to the center of your eyelid overlapping the gold a little. Next, apply Moss I-mark eyeshadow to the outer half of the eyelid overlapping the green a little. Lastly, apply Corset I-mark eyeshadow to outer corner of lid and into the crease. Then take a blending brush and blend all shades together so there are no harsh lines. Take No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set and line your top eyelid and extend line slightly beyond corner of eye. Apply the same Eyeliner on the outer corner of lower lashes. Then with a dry brush smudge your line and highlight under line with Empress. Apply 2 coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Blackest Black on upper lashes.
  3. Contour face with Glowdacious Illuminating Powder in Shimmied Up, applying it to hollows of cheeks & along hairline. Apply Just Blushing Powder Blush in Afterglow to apples of cheeks. Highlight with Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All Over Face Palette on cheekbones & down nose.
  4. Apply mark. Toasty lipclick to lips to finish off your look.

Did you say pizza?

We moved into our apartments last Monday and we got a notice on our door yesterday that the apartment complex was having a pizza party and there would be a drawing for a $25 gift card! All you had to do was come and enjoy and bring your tv/Internet bill to show proof of residency. I was so excited! I thought I was finally going to be able to meet other girls that live around us and make some new friends. So I got all "dressed to impress" so that I would look approachable and whatever you have to look like to make new friends. Walk all the way to this "pizza party" to find out there is no one there and it was sponsored by AT&T so you were just there so they could try to sell you cable. We talked to the guy for like 30 minutes got the smallest piece of pizza I have ever saw and left. There was no drawing so I guess that was just a gimmick to get you to go. Anywho... I thought I would turn it into something positive and show y'all my lovely outfit and makeup(:

I got this new top from mark. It's called the Call it a Tie blouse ($28). When I first saw this on the website I didn't care for it until I saw it on people and then I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did because I absolutely love it.

It is so versatile as you can see here. It can be paired under a sweater or cardigan or by itself and it still looks fabulous. It's ideal for the crazy Cali weather. During the day when it's hot I can wear it by itself and at night when it's cooler I can throw a sweater in without having to do a complete outfit change. Here's another way it can be worn:

By adding the mark. Jacket Required blazer ($40) you are ready to go to work and you added a fabulous color into your outfit. Remember this fall is all about color! Ok now onto my makeup for the evening...

And this is how to create this look...

Apply the Goldi Luxe I-mark eyeshadow to inner half of lid. Then, apply Luster I-mark eyeshadow to the center of your eyelid overlapping the gold a little. Next, apply Wink wink I-mark eyeshadow to the outer half of the eyelid overlapping the copper a little. Lastly, apply Java I-mark eyeshadow to outer corner of lid and into the crease. Then take a blending brush and blend all shades together so there are no harsh lines. Take a wet eyeliner brush with Java line your upper lashes and extend line slightly beyond corner of eye. Apply the same Java on the outer corner of lower lashes. Then with a dry brush smudge your line and highlight under line with Luster. Highlight under brow and inner corner of eye with Ice Age I-mark shadow. Apply 2 coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Brown Black on upper lashes.
  4. Apply mark. Ruffle lipclick to lips to finish off your look.

Fall doesn't have to mean dull...

It is finally fall! That to me means hot cocoa, snuggling, fires, and most of all time to pull out the the fall clothing!! Now I know everyone thinks fall means dull, dark colors but I'm here to say its time for a change. I don't know about y'all but I LOVE color. So here is one of my first fall looks and my makeup of course.

This is the mark. Wrap Star Dress and it is $36. This is a true wrap dress so it works for all body types. I adore the coloring. I know this picture is not the best but this was when I first got the dress I was so excited to put it on. Here is a better picture of the coloring and my lovely little family(:

It is so rich and bold yet refined at the same time. The 3/4 sleeve makes it perfect for fall. Now I know what you are saying, "Kayla you are in sandals that isn't fall clothing" but look at how else you can wear it using the mark. Do The Tight Thing tights ($18 for set of 2) and the Straight Up Sassy heels ($40).

Can you say Uhhh-MAZING! And the heels have a purple snakeskin heel that makes them even more perfect. Now that I know you are in love with this dress like me hehe let me go on to my makeup.

Ok so here's how to get this look:

Then, apply Luvstruck I-mark eyeshadow to the center of your eyelid overlapping the silver a little. Next, apply Jazzy I-mark eyeshadow to the outer half of the eyelid overlapping the pink a little. Lastly, apply Plum Velvet I-mark eyeshadow to outer corner of lid and into the crease. Then take a blending brush and blend all shades together so there are no harsh lines. Take a wet eyeliner brush with Plum Velvet mixed with a little Jazzy line your upper lashes and extend line slightly beyond corner of eye. Apply the same Plum Velvet and Jazzy mix on the outer corner of lower lashes. Then with a dry brush smudge your line. Highlight under brow and inner corner of eye with Ice Age I-mark shadow. Apply 2 coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in Blackest Black on upper lashes.

Makeup Dupe Alert!

My very first makeup dupe! I have to do it over my favorite high end brand vs my favorite drugstore brand. Urban Decay is absolutely my guilty pleasure. I love the products but hate the price. This was until I found how close E.L.F. products were to UD but the prices were outrageously different. Let's take the UD Naked palette for example:

It is a great neutral palette with basically every color you could possibly need for a natural look. But this wonderful palette breaks the bank at $50! I don't know about you but I can't spend that kind of money on eyeshadow! Sooo being my frugal self I found an alternative!

This is the e.l.f. Beauty book that retails for $5 at target and big lots! Talk about a steal and so comparable. Don't believe me? See for yourself....

First physical comparison:

Then let's get to the swatches to really blow your mind. Please excuse the $48 price I borrowed this picture.

As you can see they are nearly identical! This particular e.l.f. Palette is still lurking around stores but in case you can't find it check out www.eyeslipsface.com for some other palettes similar to this one and take advantage of their 50% eyes sale right now!
